Pakistan has expressed full support for Iran and called on Muslim-majority nations to unite against Israel’s continued military aggression. The statement comes amid escalating tensions in the Middle East following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, during a session of the National Assembly, emphasized Pakistan’s unwavering alliance with Iran. He urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to urgently convene and form a joint strategy to counter Israel’s actions.
“Iran and Pakistan have centuries-old relations. Pakistan will stand behind Iran and support them at every international forum to protect their interest,” said Asif.
Pakistan Condemns Israeli Attacks on Iran
Top Pakistani officials issued multiple statements condemning what they described as unprovoked Israeli aggression and violations of international law.
On Friday, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar condemned the Israeli airstrikes, calling them a “brazen violation of Iran’s sovereignty.” He affirmed Pakistan’s “solidarity with the government and the people of Iran,” and conveyed deep sympathies for the lives lost in the attacks.
Prime Minister and President Demand International Action
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), condemned Israel’s military action, calling it “a grave and highly irresponsible act.” He warned the global community of further destabilization in the region if immediate steps were not taken.
“We urge the United Nations and the international community to act now to prevent escalation that could imperil both regional and global peace,” said Sharif.
President Asif Ali Zardari echoed the prime minister’s stance, denouncing the Israeli strikes as a “flagrant violation of Iran’s territorial integrity” and a breach of the UN Charter and international norms.
“These acts demonstrate total disregard for sovereignty and international law. The international community must hold Israel accountable,” said Zardari.
Call for Muslim Unity and Immediate OIC Response
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif criticized the silence of many Muslim governments while pointing out growing protests in Western countries. “Even non-Muslims are raising their voices against Israel’s actions. Yet the Muslim world remains largely passive,” he noted.
He warned that failure to unite would leave other Muslim nations vulnerable to similar attacks. “Israel has targeted Iran, Yemen, and Palestine. If we don’t act now, others will face the same fate,” he said.
Pakistan’s leadership has urged the OIC to immediately convene and adopt a unified diplomatic and strategic approach to counter Israeli actions and support regional peace.
