China’s ambassador to the US published an article titled “How China Sees the World” that appeared on a US magazine’s website. Qin Gang said China’s economic engagement with the outside world ranges from the signing of free trade agreements to facilitating foreign firms to invest in the Chinese market. On relations between China and the United States, he wrote that the two countries “now share more common interests, not less”.
Although, China committed to its foreign policy goals of upholding world peace and promoting common development. Ambassador Qin Gang wrote in How China Sees the World that looking at the world as a community with a shared future naturally leads to the path of peaceful development. Qin listed a series of reform and opening-up accomplishments that China achieved over the past decade. In the South China Sea, regional countries are consulting on a code of conduct that will lead to meaningful and effective rules for the region. In India, the status quo is that both sides are willing to ease the situation and jointly protect peace along their borders.
The ambassador noted that mankind has come to the first crossroads of the 21st century after going through multiple crossroads in the previous 100 years.
