In a bold statement, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has warned India to end its ongoing repression of political and human rights in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Addressing the inauguration of the Chamfal Hydropower Station in Khatir Nad Jhelum Valley, PM Haq reaffirmed AJK’s unwavering support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination. He highlighted the critical role of AJK in the Kashmir freedom movement and stressed that the struggle will persist until Kashmir achieves its ultimate goal of freedom.

Kashmir’s Legitimate Freedom Struggle

The AJK Prime Minister reiterated that the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination is a legitimate freedom movement, one that is recognized globally. He pointed out that the international community has guaranteed Kashmiris the right to self-determination. PM Haq emphasized that this struggle will continue until the people of Kashmir attain the freedom they deserve. “The entire world knows that this movement is rooted in the rightful demand for self-determination,” he asserted.

AJK as the Base for Kashmir’s Freedom Movement

PM Haq described AJK as the base camp for Kashmir’s freedom movement. He made it clear that the people of AJK will stand firm in supporting their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in IIOJK. “Don’t test our patience; we will continue to struggle for Kashmir’s freedom,” he warned India. The prime minister expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s political leadership and armed forces for their continued support of the Kashmir cause over the last 70 years.

The Peaceful Environment in AJK

Referring to the peaceful and secure environment in Azad Kashmir, PM Haq highlighted the significant difference between the two regions. He pointed out that while IIOJK is a restricted zone, with no foreign observers allowed to visit, AJK remains open and accessible to all. “The people in Azad Kashmir enjoy all the basic amenities of life and civil rights,” he noted. He attributed these achievements to the support of Pakistan, which has ensured that the people of AJK live dignified lives.

Condemnation of Indian Leaders’ Remarks

The prime minister strongly condemned the remarks made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Army chief, and the Indian Defense Minister about AJK. He termed their statements as signs of frustration. PM Haq dismissed these remarks as baseless, emphasizing that they were made in an attempt to divert attention from India’s internal issues. He stressed that such comments will not deter the people of AJK and Pakistan from their pursuit of justice for Kashmir.

Development Plans in AJK

PM Haq also discussed ongoing and future development initiatives in Azad Kashmir. He announced that the Jhelum Valley would become self-sufficient in electricity by June, thanks to the newly inaugurated Chamfal Hydropower Station. The prime minister also revealed plans for additional projects, including the Nardujian Power Station, which will receive a Rs 200 million funding boost. He urged the public to pay their electricity bills promptly, stressing the importance of financial sustainability for further development.

Focus on Education and Accountability

Looking ahead, PM Haq promised a special package for education that would be unveiled in the coming months. He emphasized that the government would soon present a comprehensive vision for AJK’s development. In addition, he called for accountability across all sectors to ensure transparency and effective governance. On a positive note, PM Haq announced a one-month bonus salary for employees working on the PDO project. This bonus was a gesture to recognize their hard work and dedication. It aimed to appreciate the effort and commitment shown by the workers in the development project.

PM Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq’s address covered both the political challenges faced by the people of Kashmir and the ongoing progress in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. His strong stance against India’s repression in IIOJK was clear. He reinforced AJK’s commitment to standing firm for Kashmir’s right to self-determination. The prime minister’s efforts show AJK as a key player in the broader Kashmir struggle.

His government has focused on providing essential services while promoting sustainable development. PM Haq’s initiatives support AJK’s growth and development, strengthening its position. His leadership is key to advocating for Kashmir’s self-determination, ensuring that the region continues to play a vital role in the freedom movement.
