To relieve the nation’s energy shortfall caused by Russian strikes, Ukrainians were urged to swap out their inefficient incandescent bulbs with free LED bulbs on Monday. The commencement of a scheme to replace 50 million light bulbs, financed by the European Union, was announced by Yulia Svyrydenko, minister of economy. At post offices, she claimed, all adults will be able to swap five incandescent light bulbs for five LED bulbs.
In the upcoming months, it is planned to alleviate the energy imbalance caused by Russian missile. And drone attacks on electrical infrastructure, which will frequently left millions of Ukrainians without light, water, or heating. At a news conference, Svyrydenko declared that “Ukraine is fighting on the military, economic, and energy fronts.” A critical first step is to relieve the strain on the electricity grid in Ukraine. She claims that compared to an older light, an LED bulb uses eight times less electricity.
Energy conservation is crucial to get through the first winter after Russia invaded Ukraine. 40% of the energy infrastructure has been damaged, and that some Ukrainian power plants are situated on Russian-occupied territory, this data is obtained by Government officials. Ukrenergo, the national grid operator, stated that the energy shortfall was “severe” due to increased use to start the work week and below-freezing temperatures. Across the country, it enforced pre-planned power interruptions.
The 27-nation bloc would donate 30 million LED light bulbs, and France would contribute an additional 5 million bulbs. According to Matti Maasikas, the EU ambassador the EU is also supplying equipment like generators.
