Hina Khar presented Pakistan’s human rights progress at UN Human Rights Council

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar presented Pakistan’s human rights progress report at the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva on Monday.

She outlined legislative, policy and institutional measures taken by Pakistan to safeguard and advance basic rights. Welcoming constructive feedback from States, she expressed the resolve to build on the progress made so far.

Hina Rabbani Khar said democratic institutions are gaining strength and acting as defenders and promoters of basic rights and freedoms for all citizens.

The Minister of State highlighted a range of progressive legislations to promote and protect basic rights, dignity and freedoms of the vulnerable and the marginalized, especially women, children, transgenders, elderly people and persons with disabilities.

Hina Rabbani Khar said Pakistan is a leading voice of the vulnerable and the oppressed
