Samina Baig, Pakistan’s first female mountaineer, was leading a Pakistani-Italian joint female expedition team on K2. Unfortunately, during her pre-expedition acclimatization process, she fell seriously ill and developed severe breathing problems. We waited for helicopter evacuation for three days, but despite completing all the requirements for evacuation Askari Aviation (the only service provider available in Pakistan)could not carry out rescue operations making weather excuse. The representatives and doctor informed us that her condition is deteriorating, so we decided to evacuate Samina with human assistance and using a horse. The team plans to reach Askoli village in two days, walking day and night. We need your prayers as the situation is critical. Samina is the only Pakistani female who has climbed and hoisted the green flag on Mount Everest, K2, Nanga Parbat, and the Seven Summits on seven continents.
