Former President Donald Trump’s campaign has decided to cancel three out of four scheduled in-person campaign events just days before the Iowa caucuses due to severe weather conditions in the state. Instead of the live rallies, the campaign has opted for tele-rallies as an alternative.
Both rallies initially planned for Saturday in Sioux City and Atlantic have been canceled, and a tele-rally featuring Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has been scheduled for the evening.
One in-person rally on Sunday in Indianola is still on the agenda, while the second rally slated for Cherokee has been canceled, with a tele-rally featuring Iowa State Representative Bobby Kaufmann in its place.
Notably, adverse weather has affected other candidates as well, leading to the cancellation of various campaign events in the lead-up to the caucuses.
In response to the cancellations, President Trump expressed the speculation that the extreme weather in Iowa might potentially benefit his campaign before the caucuses.
